I, myself, don’t know much about the world of wine, but I’m fortunate enough to have the resources to learn. Wine is a big area to understand. I’m sharing this blog with you because I want you to learn with me. My goal is to get to know wine, how to pair it with meals, and how to pick a bottle that fits my liking. A part of me also wants to look cool and classy when navigating a wine list, but shh! Let’s keep that between us.

I’ve noticed that although wine is simply just fermented grape juice, many people become too intimidated to explore it. My background with wine comes from the fact that I like drinking it. Seriously. That’s it. This past summer, I had the opportunity to travel throughout Europe. I had wine with almost every dinner meal while I was in France and Italy, but half the time I had no clue what I was ordering. When it came down to it, I would choose a wine I knew I’d had before, or one that I could pronounce. (Gewürztraminer, Gewürztraminer, Gewürztraminer–I like saying that word out loud.)

By all means, I’m nowhere near being a Sommelier or even a person knowledgeable enough to suggest you a bottle of wine. But I’m learning and I want to share what I learn with you. Knowledge is power, right?

Now, let’s acquire a liking for wine—together.

Cheers! -Jane
